Welcome to Chloe's Causes
a 501(c)3 public charity

Chloe Alexis Sauickie was born on October 10th, 2003 and was the second child, and the little sister to her big sister Kaitlyn. She had an immediate impact on our family and was loved by all who met her. She grew quickly to be a full-time friend and playmate to her sister, an artist (as you can see), a part-time troublemaker, a great connoisseur of hot dogs and cheese doodles ("doodles"), as well as a fashion queen with her Hello Kitty ("kitties") shoes and apparel.

On July 12th 2005, the Sauickie family lost this precious member of the family. Chloe was only 21 months old when she passed away suddenly while playing happily with her sister and cousin. Playing with her sister and her cousins was a common everyday thing and this day should have been no different. As long as she had her "dinky" (binky), her babies, and her kitty shoes, Chloe was set for the day. She is missed very much and is in our thoughts everyday.

For more than a year, the reason behind what took Chloe from us remained unknown. Since she was over the age of one year when she passed away, it was not considered Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Instead, it belonged to a lesser-known category, Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), which describes the death of healthy children after their first birthday and where the cause of their death is left unexplained. It was with the help of the SUDC Program that we eventually learned that the cause of Chloe’s death was a rare cardiac disorder known as Oncocytic Cardiomyopathy.

Twenty-one months may not seem like a long time to live however those that met Chloe were influenced in so many different ways…for a lifetime. It was with that in mind that we created Chloe’s Causes in hopes of continuing her memory and allowing for the doing of great things, as we know Chloe would have. All funds raised for Chloe’s Causes will go toward causes that benefit children, including medical research and support, pediatric care, and scholarships.

Since losing Chloe the Sauickie family has been blessed with two additional children, both of which will continue to hear stories about their big sister Chloe for years to come from their parents, big sister Kaitlyn, and all of the friends and family who were fortunate enough to know her. We hope to continue to add to those stories, with your help, as we tell them of all of the good work that Chloe’s Causes have done for so many other children…all influenced by Chloe.

Thank you for your support and generosity as we work to fulfill Chloe’s Causes.
